The government of Ghana, through the ministry of of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts has declared Wednesday as Fugu-wearing Day.
The decision was made known in a statement released by the of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts dated February 10, 2026.
The statement stated that “The government has decided to encourage all Ghanaians to dedicate every Wednesday to the wearing of Fugu in all its diverse forms”.
According to the ministry, “This initiative is meant to affirm our identity and project Ghana’s heritage with pride to the world”, adding that “It will empower players across the value chain and create more business and employment opportunities nationwide”.
The ministry believes that “This collective embrace of Fugu will strengthen national unity and serve as a symbol of our cultural confidence”.
