Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that the government has paid GH¢24.8 billion to statutory funds since January 2026 to support education, healthcare, road maintenance and local development.
He said the payments mark a departure from previous delays, capping and arrears that affected the release of statutory funds.
“Unlike in the past, when payments were marked by delays, capping and arrears, we now release these funds on time and in full,” Dr Forson said.
He added that timely payments ensure statutory funds have the resources needed to provide essential services required by law.
The announcement follows the release of the third-quarter statutory funds for 2026.
The funds and programmes covered include the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), the Free Senior High School Programme, the District Assemblies Common Fund, the National Health Insurance Fund and the Ghana Medical Trust Fund.
Other beneficiaries include the Road Maintenance Trust Fund, the Mineral Development Fund and the Mineral Income Investment Fund.
According to the minister, the payments support services that directly affect the daily lives of Ghanaians and enable the institutions responsible to plan and carry out their activities.
