Veteran Ghanaian actress Akofa Edjeani has expressed her frustration over the government’s lack of commitment to the establishment of the Creative Arts Fund meant to provide financial support for the country’s film industry.
Speaking at the 3Entertainment Creative Arts forum on Friday, August 30, Akofa Edjeani, who is also a board member of the National Film Authority (NFA), bemoaned that although the Creative Arts Act 935 mandates the creation of a fund, the NFA is yet to receive any funding since its five years of operation.
“The National Film Authority (NFA), of which I’m a board member, has been operating for about five years now, and in the Act 935 that we are working with, there is supposed to be a fund established for five years. We have not even had one Cedi in that fund,” she said.
