Ghana Rubber Estates Limited (GREL) has awarded scholarships to 33 students drawn from its operational areas in the Western, Central and Eastern Regions to pursue various courses at the tertiary level.

The scholarship package, covers both the Academic and Residential Facility User Fees and forms part of the company’s commitment to investing in education and human capital development within its host communities.

Corporate Affairs Manager of GREL, Perry Acheampong, said  at a brief ceremony that the initiative underscores the company’s belief that education remains a key driver of sustainable development.

According to him, the scholarship scheme is designed to support brilliant but needy students to pursue higher education without undue financial burden on their families.

“We see this as an investment in the future of our communities. By supporting these students, we are contributing to the development of skilled human capital that will drive socio-economic growth in our operational areas and beyond,” he stated.

He urged beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and uphold good conduct, stressing that the continuation of the support would be tied to satisfactory academic performance.

Mr. Acheampong added that GREL remains committed to maintaining a harmonious relationship with its host communities through sustained interventions in education, health, water and other social infrastructure.

President of the Association of Chiefs on Whose Lands GREL Operates (ACLANGO), Nana Kwesi Agyeman IX, commended the company for sustaining the scholarship programme over the years.

He noted that the support would significantly ease the financial burden on parents and guardians, and

encouraged the beneficiaries to justify the confidence reposed in them by excelling academically and serving as ambassadors of their communities.

He assured that ACLANGO would continue to collaborate with GREL to ensure that the scholarship scheme achieves its intended impact in the beneficiary communities.
