Ghanaian DJ, producer, and musician GuiltyBeatz has credited his genre-blending style for his success in the Nigerian music industry.

In an exclusive interview with Ghana Weekend on Friday, May 30, the hitmaker explained that appealing to Nigerian audiences requires understanding their musical tastes and delivering beats that connect with them emotionally.

“I feel like it’s more about taste and it’s more about the type of sounds that they hear. When they hear my beat for some reason they feel connected to it. And I think because my beats are not like technically fully Ghanaian, it’s a mixture of R&B and a lot of stuff,” he said.

GuiltyBeatz, widely recognised for producing hits like “Akwaaba,” also observed a shift in how his music is received back home in Ghana.

“Now Ghanaians do like my beat. I feel before, I was probably too way ahead of time for them but now people are more opened to sounds and rhythms,” he added.

His ability to fuse elements of R&B, Afrobeats, and other global influences has not only opened doors in Nigeria but also gained him a growing international fan base.
