A 23-year-old palm wine tapper identified as Numatekpor Kwaku, popularly known as “On God,” has been arrested for allegedly setting his girlfriend’s family house ablaze at Bibiani Subrinkwanta in the Western North Region.
The tragic incident claimed the lives of three members of the household, including the suspect’s 19-year-old girlfriend, Benedicta Kudjo Felicia, who was a student at Queen Senior High School.
The other victims were Felicia’s 61-year-old mother, Maame Mary Oppong, and a 22-year-old woman identified as Dora Adoma Kudjo.
According to reports, the family of the deceased had earlier warned Numatekpor Kwaku to stay away from Felicia because she was still a student and they did not approve of their relationship.

Sources indicate that tensions had been building between the suspect and the family following their decision to prevent him from continuing the relationship with the young woman.
It is further alleged that the suspect had earlier threatened to burn down the family’s house if they refused to allow him to marry Felicia.
Authorities say the suspect is believed to have carried out the threat, resulting in the devastating fire that led to the deaths of the three victims.
Numatekpor Kwaku has since been arrested and is currently in police custody as investigations continue into the circumstances surrounding the deadly fire.
The tragic incident has left residents of Bibiani Subrinkwanta in shock, with many expressing grief over the loss of three lives in the suspected act of arson.
