James Gyakye Quayson, the Member of Parliament for Assin North, has expressed strong confidence in securing a renewed mandate in the 2024 elections.

Quayson’s eligibility to serve as an MP was challenged in 2020 due to his dual citizenship of Canada and Ghana. He faced a court case that led to his seat being declared vacant.

Following this, he contested and won a by-election to regain his parliamentary seat.

Despite these legal challenges, Quayson has focused on developmental projects within his constituency. He highlighted recent efforts, such as the ongoing construction of the Tweanka Bridge, which connects Assin Breko to the capital town.

“I will continue to leverage every available resource to ensure the completion of this critical project,” Quayson said.

Speaking after a visit by Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang, the running mate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) presidential candidate, Quayson reiterated his commitment to justice and development, instilling confidence in his leadership.

He expressed optimism about his re-election, emphasizing his work’s significant and positive impact in Assin North, which has reassured the constituents about his capabilities.

“I believe the people of Assin North will renew my mandate because they recognize and appreciate the development I’ve brought to the constituency,” he added.
