Players of Hasaacas Ladies say winning the 2025/26 Ghana Women’s Premier League would be the perfect reward for teammate Milot Pokuaa after the difficult journey she has endured in recent years.
Pokuaa, a member of the clubs triumphant 2020/21 squad, is experiencing her first full campaign in several seasons after struggling with injuries and personal tragedy.
The forward suffered a serious anterior cruciate ligament injury during the 2021 WAFU B Women’s Champions League Qualifiers, an injury that sidelined her for a long spell and ruled her out of the inaugural CAF Women’s Champions League.
While recovering from that setback, she also had to cope with the heartbreaking loss of both her mother and stepfather, making her absence from football even more challenging.
Now back in the Hasaacas squad and regaining form, her teammates believe the team has an added motivation this season.
Captain Grace Banwaa believes winning the league would open the door for Pokuaa to finally experience continental football.
“She couldnt play [in the Champions League] when the opportunity came, so now, we need to win the league and get her there to experience it,” Banwaa told Joy Sports.
Forward Comfort Owusu added, “Because she couldnt play in 2021, we want to win the league for her this season so she can achieve her target.”
Hasaacas sit top of the Southern Zone table with 33 points, three ahead of second-placed Army Ladies with three games to the end of the regular season.
