Here is what to expect on Matchday 13 of the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League:
ESSIAM SOCRATES VRS ARMY LADIES
After beating Berry Ladies in their backyard, Essiam Socrates Ladies will welcome Army Ladies to the Enyan Abaasa AstroTurf this weekend. Socrates stunned Berry Ladies 2:0 as Army Ladies struggled from a goal down to share the spoils with bottom placed Sea Lions at MATS Park. Army Ladies will be going into the game hoping to make amends after their poor showing against Sea Lions whilst the host Essiam Socrates go into the game highly motivated with that important win in Accra. Despite the win, Essiam Socrates is not out of the woods yet as they are still caught up in the relegation web. Points against Army Ladies would be pivotal in their survival fight. When the two sides met in the first round, Army Ladies put two unanswered goals past the Essiam based team. The game is too close to call but Socrates Ladies have a slight urge over their opponent with that away win and playing in front of the home fans serves as a tonic for a win.
FAITH LADIES VRS JONINA LADIES
In form Faith Ladies welcome Jonina Ladies to the Mac Dan Park this weekend. The home team are unbeaten in 12 Premier League matches having recorded 6 wins and 6 draws and lie second on the league log. Faith Ladies who are have been impressive in the season and will aim to continue their unbeaten run to keep the pressure on leaders Hasaacas Ladies. Five points separate the two top teams in the table points – and a win for Faith Ladies will reduce the points to two – if Hasaacas Ladies fail to beat Beery Ladies in Sekondi. The visitors are on a jolly ride in the Women’s FA Cup and will aim to translate their Cup form into the League by causing an upset away from home.
SEALIONS VS SOCCER INTELLECTUALS
Sealions are rooted at the bottom of the Premier League standings having struggled for form all season. The home side drew 1-1 against Army Ladies last weekend and will need to work hard to get the three points in this match. Soccer Intellectuals on the other hand, are in 8th place in the league table following an inconsistent form in the ongoing campaign. Having lost 1-0 at home to Faith Ladies in their previous league outing, Intellectuals would need to bounce back to boost their chance of survival. The home team recorded their first win of the season in their last home game against Berry Ladies, after putting five past them.
HASAACAS LADIES VRS BERRY LADIES
Record holders Hasaacas Ladies will host arch rivals, Berry Ladies at the Sekondi Gyandu Park in an eye catching contest. Hasaacas suffered their first defeat of the season away to Ladystrikers and will go into this fixture looking to get all the maximum points to keep hold of their lead in the Southern Zone. Berry Ladies lost at home and this tough fixture will be an interesting match. With their home fans rooting behind them, the ‘Dooo Ladies’ will hope to get back to winning ways to extend the gap between them and second placed Faith Ladies who have been in top form this season. Berry Ladies will prove a tough side for the former champions as they are continue to surge in the table with a top four finish in sight. Matches between the two sides are unpredictable with Hasaacas Ladies winning 1-0 in their last meeting.
POLICE LADIES VRS LADYSTRIKERS
After drawing with Jonina Ladies last weekend, Police Ladies will host Cape Coast based Ladystrikers at the Alajo astro turf. The home team have been astonishing in their last two matches and currently occupy the 6th position with 15 points.
