The Minister of Health, Kwaku Agyeman-Manu has appealed to donors to support the ministry to carry out its mandates.
Speaking at the opening of the 2023 Annual Health Summit in Accra, the Minister said, donor support for the ministry is presently zero percent.
He said the proportion of the overall budget allocated by the Government for the health sector had remained relatively stable since 2017, hovering between 59 percent and 62 per cent except in 2021, where it reached 64 percent.
Mr. Manu said this year’s health summit is focusing on drawing the attention of government and Ghanaians on the need to increase investment in Primary Health Care, PHC.
Mr Agyemang-Manu said,”sustainable primary health care is an essential foundation for Universal Health Coverage, a prerequisite for meeting Sustainable Development Goals”.
He said financing PHC is the pathway to achieving good health at low cost.
