Highlife Legend Dada KD to be buried on August 16

Ghanaian highlife musician Dada KD, who died on May 17, 2025, will be buried on Saturday, August 16, in a state-assisted funeral at the forecourt of the State House in Accra.

He will later be laid to rest in his hometown, Agona Asaaman in the Central Region.

The family announced the funeral plans during a one-week memorial held at the East Legon Executive Club. The event was attended by musicians such as Kojo Antwi, Kaakyire Kwame Appiah, Nana Romeo, and several politicians and fans.

A thanksgiving service will follow on Sunday, August 17. Mourners are asked to wear black and white in honor of the late musician.

Dada KD was known for popular highlife songs like “Tekyere Ma,” “Ene Menye,” “Wosuro a Wondi,” and “Honey Love.” His sudden death came just days before a planned performance in London on May 25 with other Ghanaian artistes.

Tributes from fellow musicians, including close friend KK Fosu, have described Dada KD as a true legend who left a lasting mark on Ghana’s music industry. His funeral is expected to attract a large crowd of fans, dignitaries, and fellow artistes.
