Richard Attah, who is viewed as the first-choice goalkeeper of Accra Hearts of Oak has stated in an interview that the club does not have a permanent number one goalkeeper.
The 25-year-old shot-stopper kept the post for the majority of the called-off 2019/20 Ghana Premier League season with twelve capps and six clean sheets to his credit.
Attah said in the Phobians camp, no goalkeeper is superior and it only depends on what happens before the match for the coaches to decide as to who keeps the post.
“No one can say to himself that he is the number goalkeeper for Hearts”, He said in an interview monitored by footballghana.com.
“All the goalkeepers at the club are the same just that I have gotten the opportunity to be in the post. The fact that I am keeping the post does not mean I’m better than them.
He continued that: “The coaches normally talk to us before games and select the goalkeeper who deserves to keep the post in that particular game. So, I can’t say I’m the first choice for Hearts.”
The former Elmina Sharks goalkeeper fought off competition from Benjamin Mensah and Richmond Ayi to the club’s number one, though he claims he’s not the number.
This week, Hearts of Oak announced on its social media handles that Attah has extended his stay with the club by three more years.
