Former President John Dramani Mahama has expressed his disappointment for the inclusion of his name in the airbus scandal in the latest report by the Special Prosecutor.
Martin Amidu in his report on the stinking Agyapa Deal on Ghana’s Gold mentioned that Mahama is the one labeled as Government Official One.
He said he has not been able to interrogate the former President because he got himself an insurance by being a flagbearer of the country’s biggest opposition party NDC.
“The only reason the former President [Mahama] has not been invited for interrogation (in spite of all threats from some of his followers and lawyers) is the fact that he got himself an insurance as the Presidential candidate of the other largest political party in Ghana,” he said in the report.
Adding that “prudence dictated that the interrogation be held in abeyance during this election season”.
But speaking on Accra-based Starr FM in an interview, John Dramani Mahama has rubbished claims by the Special Prosecutor saying that Martin Amidu mentioned him in the report to equalize the Agyapa mess.
“I’m disappointed in Martin Amidu for putting that paragraph in his report to equalize things, No financial benefit accrued to me, not a single dollar. Legally, he has not a single basis to continue with that investigation. He should show us what investigation he has done, he should tell us who he has spoken to,” Mahama said.
