Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) Communications Director Ibrahim Sannie Daara believes Ghana will struggle to retain Carlos Queiroz as head coach of the Black Stars.Queiroz was appointed shortly before the 2026 FIFA World Cup, replacing Otto Addo after a disappointing run of results, and guided Ghana to the Round of 32 before their campaign ended.Speculation over his future intensified after Queiroz released a message thanking the Ghana Football Association, the players and supporters following the World Cup.”To my president and board, thank you so much for the opportunity to serve the Ghana national football team,” said Queiroz in a statement. He added, “It was an honour and privilege to serve the country and the Black Stars. To my players and staff, my deepest gratitude for your courage, commitment and unwavering dedication to the team. To the fans, we cannot claim complete sporting satisfaction, but we can proudly say that we honoured the colours of Ghana and restored respect and credibility to the Black Stars on football’s greatest stage.”Although there have been clarifications that Carlos Queiroz has not stepped down from his position, Sannie Daara believes the coach’s message suggests his time with the Black Stars has come to an end.Speaking to Citi Sports, the former GFA communications chief questioned whether Ghana could continue to meet the financial demands of employing the veteran coach and his technical team.I think hes gone. His statement is clear. Hes saying goodbye. I think its clear. He was poached for the World Cup. Will we be able to pay him? His salary is 150,000 dollars and over. Will we be able to afford him? And hes bringing a large backroom staff. Will we be able to pay him. I dont think so, he said.Despite the growing speculation, there has been no official confirmation that Queiroz has left his post.
