Ghanaian actor, Clement Bonney, popularly known as Mr. Beautiful, has revealed that his long-term political ambition is to become President of Ghana.
In an exclusive interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM with Kwame Dadzie, the actor was asked if he had any interest in occupying a political position in the future. He responded “Yes,” sharing his aspiration of one day becoming the president, while noting that he is open to holding various positions along the way, including Member of Parliament, as part of the natural process toward the country’s highest office.
“I want to become the next President. Who wouldn’t want to be the child of a rich parent. Becoming means it’s a process. I will go through the process to become,” he stated.
Mr. Beautiful explained that if he has the resources and the support of constituents, he would pursue smaller political roles first, seeing them as steps toward his ultimate goal. He also emphasized that he does not wait for a “perfect time” to enter politics, pointing out that he has been a registered member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for over a decade.
Reflecting on his political journey, Mr. Beautiful said his affiliation with the NDC began in 2010, inspired by the leadership philosophy of Ghana’s first President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Reading Nkrumah’s book Voice From Conakry was pivotal in shaping his political convictions.
“That book opened my eyes to certain realities about leadership and governance,” he explained.
He also praised the NDC’s policies, particularly those focused on social interventions for the poor and vulnerable.
“The NDC has policies that favour the poor and the needy in the country,” he said, adding that the party’s governance approach has strengthened his loyalty over the years.
On Ghana’s economic climate, Mr. Beautiful observed that life is now more predictable than it was two years ago.
“You can plan your budget today and stick to it, unlike two years ago when life was very expensive,” he remarked.
While he did not provide a specific timeline for pursuing higher office, Mr. Beautiful stressed that his political journey is ongoing and that he remains committed to making a meaningful impact on Ghana’s development.
