Ghanaian dancehall star Charles Nii Armah Mensah, popularly known as Shatta Wale, has opened up about his childhood dreams and the professions he once aspired to pursue before becoming a musician.
In an interview with George Quaye on JoyPrime on Wednesday October 15, 2025, the “Melissa” hitmaker revealed that as a child, he had ambitions of becoming a lawyer, pilot, or even president.
“I wanted to be a lawyer,” he said. “I chose three professions, but one wasn’t really a profession—it was more like a calling. Pilot, lawyer, and president.”
Explaining why he wanted to become president, Shatta Wale shared that his leadership instincts showed even at a young age.
“When I was growing up, I felt that everything I told my peers and colleagues in school, they listened. I had the urge to talk to people and make them know we can do something together,” he added.
Though his childhood dreams didn’t lead him to the law courts or the skies, Shatta Wale has become one of Ghana’s most influential figures — using his voice and platform to inspire many, much like the leader he once envisioned becoming.
