Ghanaian sensational rapper, Okese1 known in real life as Frank Nana Okese Afrane has told Amansan Krakye in an interview on Kastle FM monitored by MyNewsGh.com that he was already doing drill music way back before the inception of the Kumerican movement.
“One funny thing is that I was doing drill music way back and long time ago before it went haywire in the whole of Ghana,” he disclosed on the Kastle Drive show.
The controversial money-maker, Okese1 revealed that by the time he decided to drop his well-acclaimed banger titled ‘Yie Yie’ a couple of artistes had also released their drill songs and that helped to make the song go haywire.
“I had already made up my mind to drop yie yie but by the time I dropped the banger, a lot of other artistes had also dropped a couple of drill songs in the music industry,” he added.
Okese1 who got nomination in the Hip Hop Song of the year category at the 3Music Awards 2021 said though his song found itself among the drill music vibes, he was long into it before the Kumerican movement gained momentum.
“So for sure yie yie found itself among the drill music vibes but as for me I was doing drill music before the inception of the Kumerica movement, he told the host on Kastle FM.
