Aduana Stars talismanic forward, Yahaya Mohammed, has revealed he was under the influence of spirituality when he decided not to sign a permanent deal with French Ligue One outfit, OGC Nice when he was on loan from Tema Youth.
Nice signed the 32-year-old center-forward on a loan deal from Ghana Division One side, Tema Youth, in the 2007/8 season but upon the expiration of his loan, he opted not to sign a permanent contract when the French side were interested in signing him.
The former Kotoko striker has now offered explanations, blaming spirituality for not signing for Nice and never knew how he refused to sign a three-year contract offered him by Nice until he landed in Ghana.
“When I went to Nice, I sustained an injury. So, in that period management of the club started contract extension talks with me but I told them to wait”, he told Television CK.
“They called Wilfred Osei Kwaku Palmer and Fabian Piloto from both Ghana and Monaco to inform them that I have decided not to sign but, I didn’t know the reason why I decided not to sign.
“Palmer and Mr. Kyeremeh called me and because of that, I switched my phones off. The time I realized, I’m in Ghana. I asked myself what I’m doing here.
“I never knew what I was doing then until I came back to Ghana and realized that I have terminated my contract.
“Truth to be told, I didn’t know why I took that decision but I think I did a great mistake at the time.
“I went for prayers and got to know I am under a spell so; from there I learned a lot of things. One thing about me is that I’ve never used black magic in my career.”
Yahaya Mohammed only had a successful trial with Nice and did not play for a single match for the French club.
