Owner of Bills Micro-Credit, Richard Nii Armah Quaye, has revealed that before attaining success, he was once washing as many as 5,000 plates daily while working as a kitchen porter in the United Kingdom.

In an interview with renowned broadcaster Bola Ray, Quaye shared his struggles as a student in the UK, where he took on two jobs to fund his education and sustain himself.

He disclosed that he worked night shifts at Tesco, restocking aisles with items from the warehouse, and also laboured as a kitchen porter at the City Inn Hotel in Central London, a demanding role that required him to wash thousands of plates each day.

“It’s a very big hotel, and I had to wash as many as 5,000 dishes in a day,” he recalled.

Despite the exhausting workload, Quaye remained determined to succeed.

Today, as the owner of a thriving financial institution, he faces skepticism from some who question his success. However, he remains unfazed, emphasising the importance of perseverance and integrity.

“When I hear people say negative things or have doubts about my source of wealth, I tell myself that, in this world, no matter how kind you are to people, they will still have ulterior motives,” he stated.

“When it takes you one year to build something, people can use one night to destroy it, but you still have to build it anyway,” he added.
