Ghanaian businessman Ibrahim Mahama has offered his private jet to transport the remains of victims from a military helicopter crash to South Africa for DNA testing.
The crash, which occurred on August 6, killed eight people, including two cabinet ministers.
The jet departed on Thursday, August 7, carrying biological samples and a delegation of government officials and forensic experts.
Interior Minister Muntaka Mubarak said, “We are doing everything possible to fast-track the process so the victims can be buried with dignity.”
Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh added, “This is about speed and precision.”
Ghana has declared three days of national mourning, and plans are underway for a state burial to honor the victims
