The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has directed a thorough investigation into allegations that some police personnel at Kibi were involved in the unauthorised withdrawal of GH¢400,000 from a mobile money (MoMo) agent’s account.
The directive comes in response to a viral video circulating on social media, which claims that officers from the Kibi Police Station unlawfully accessed and withdrew the funds from the agent’s MoMo wallet.
In a statement, the Ghana Police Service indicated that the IGP has assigned the matter to the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) for a comprehensive probe to establish the facts of the incident.
The alleged victim has reportedly been contacted by investigators and is cooperating fully with the ongoing process.
The Police Service assured the public that the investigation will be conducted professionally and transparently. The outcome of the probe will be made public once it is concluded.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to upholding integrity and addressing any misconduct swiftly.
