In a significant development, the ad hoc committee established by Parliament Speaker Alban Bagbin to investigate the leaked audio discussing the purported plan to oust Inspector General of Police Dr. George Akuffo Dampare has submitted its findings to Parliament.

The committee chaired by Abuakwa South MP Samuel Atta Akyea, which was formed in response to the leaked audio that sparked national concern and debate, has completed its probe and presented its report before Parliament.

The content of the report will likely shed light on the details of the discussions in the audio, as well as any potential implications or courses of action recommended by the committee.

The committee was tasked with investigating the leaked audio where some senior police officers were heard in a conversation with former Northern Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Daniel Bugri Naabu, planning the removal of the IGP from office.

The report of the committee was laid before Parliament on Tuesday, June 18.

“Report of the Special Committee of Inquiry into the contents of a leaked audio tape of a high-ranking police officer and others in an alleged conspiracy to remove the current Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare and related matters has been duly presented,” the Clerk of Parliament announced.
