I’ll retain Mfantseman seat for NPP to honour my husband- wife slain MP vows

The wife of Slain Mfantseman Member of Parliament (MP), Mrs. Ophelia Mensah Hayford on Tuesday, October 20, 2020, filed her nomination form to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP)  in the upcoming general elections with a call on the foot soldiers and party executives to rally behind her.

She also vowed to retain the seat for the NPP in the upcoming polls for a peaceful repose of her late husband.

At Electoral Commission(EC) office at Saltpond where she filed her nomination form to replace her late husband, Ekow Quansah Hayford who was the party’s Parliamentary candidate for the Mfantseman Constituency until he met his untimely death following his gruesome killing by some unknown assailants on Friday, October 9, 2020, while returning from a campaign tour, she promised to give off her best.

Mrs. Ophelia Mensah Hayford who was accompanied by some Regional and constituency executives as well as the incumbent MP for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson promised to work hard to increase the margin of votes of both presidential and parliamentary.

The decision to settle on Mrs. Ophelia Mensah Hayford as replacement for late husband was taken by the National Executives Committee (NEC) in line Article 12 of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) constitution after extensive consultations with all stakeholders including the constituents of Mfantseman.

She thanked President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and both National and Regional Executives for the trust they had in her and chose her to lead the party in Mfantseman Constituency.

On her part, incumbent Member of Parliament (MP) for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson promised to use her experience in Parliament to assist the wife of the slain Mfantseman MP to bring developmental projects to her constituency if she wins
