Dancehall artiste Shatta Wale has reiterated that he is not affiliated with any form of fraud, popularly known in Ghana as sakawa, and maintains that his fans earn their money through honest and hardworking means.
He said this during his performance at the Beyond Kontrol (BYK) Concert, held at the Accra Sports Stadium. Addressing the large crowd, Shatta Wale stated emphatically that neither he nor his supporters are involved in fraudulent activities.
He explained that his fan base largely comprises hardworking individuals from commercial hubs such as Tudu, Makola, Katamanto, and Kumasi. According to him, these areas are home to traders, artisans, and entrepreneurs who depend on legitimate businesses for their livelihoods.
The statement drew loud applause from patrons at the stadium, many of whom welcomed the clarification amid ongoing public discourse linking celebrities and their followers to fraudulent practices.
By making the declaration on stage at the BYK Concert, Shatta Wale sought to correct public perceptions and reinforce the message that success and support for music should be rooted in hard work and lawful enterprise.
