A 41-year-old woman has generated widespread reactions on social media after sharing a heartfelt reflection on the relationship choices she made in her 20s.

In a candid video circulating online, the woman admitted that during her younger years, she prioritised wealth and financial stability in a partner, often turning down men she described as “good” because they did not meet her expectations of affluence.

“At my 20s, I selected a man. I selected a lot,” she said. “I said to myself… that I can’t settle for less. I need a rich man, I need a wealthy man.”

According to her, she believed at the time that she understood her worth and was justified in holding out for a partner who could provide a luxurious lifestyle.

“It doesn’t mean that I wasn’t seeing good men. I was. But obviously, I was looking at money. I was after wealth,” she explained.

Now at 41 and single, she expressed regret over those decisions, saying she wishes someone had offered her a different perspective earlier in life.

“If anybody had given me this advice I’m sharing with you, I wouldn’t have been where I am now, single at 41,” she said. “At my age, I should be having at least 15-year-old kids right now. But look at me, still single and searching.”

The woman acknowledged feeling ashamed about her current situation but said she chose to speak publicly in the hope of helping younger women reconsider their priorities.

“I don’t feel cool keeping this to myself. Let me save some girls out there,” she stated, urging women in their 20s not to delay settling down if marriage and family are among their goals.

She further advised young women to be mindful of time, suggesting that finding a partner becomes more challenging after 30.

“Once you get to 30, it’s really, really difficult for a man to come by,” she claimed. “Make use of your youthful exuberant age now.”

Her remarks have sparked mixed reactions online. While some social media users commended her honesty and willingness to share her personal experience, others criticised her views as outdated and overly focused on age and marriage as measures of success.

In her own words;

“If anybody had given me this advice I’m sharing with you, I wouldn’t have been where I am now, single at 41. At my 20s, I selected a man. I selected a lot. I said to myself, in fact, I said to my friends that I can’t settle for less, that I know my rights, I know my worth. I told them that I need a rich man, I need a wealthy man. That I need a man that is going to spoil me, pamper me and all that.

It doesn’t mean that I wasn’t seeing good men. I was. But obviously I was looking at money. I was after wealth. But look at me now. 41, still single and searching. At my age, I should be having at least 15 years old kids right now. But look at me, say single and searching, searching. 20 years girls are searching. Me too, I am searching. I feel so ashamed of myself. This is the truth.
A lot of girls out there my age will not tell you because of course they regret it behind closed doors. But I don’t feel cool keeping this to myself. Let me save some girls out there. Because if anybody had told me this earlier, I wouldn’t be where I am today. So do wait for a man listening to me.

Do wait to share this video. It could really save your sisters out there. It could save your friends, your female friends out there. And if you’re a girl listening to me, try not to settle down in your late 20s to 25s. Once you get to 30, it’s really, really difficult for a man to come by. It’s really difficult. Make use of your youthful exuberant age now. Make use of your beautiful body, your beautiful energetic body now.”
