New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Opoku Ansah, has described business mogul Ibrahim Mahama’s decision to convert his former private jet into a national emergency air ambulance as inspiring and commendable.
In a Facebook post shared on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, the legislator highlighted the profound kindness shown by Mahama, the CEO of Engineers and Planners, recounting a personal experience from February 2020 when he suffered a near-fatal accident.
” In February 2020, after a near fatal accident, a close friend of mine received an unexpected call. It was Ibrahim Mahama. He asked that the hospital be informed to prepare me to be evacuated out of the country on his private jet,” Opoku wrote.
He described the gesture as a revelation of Mahama’s “depth of kindness and readiness to help when it truly mattered.”
The MP’s praise comes in response to Ibrahim Mahama’s announcement earlier on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at the Accra International Airport.
Shortly after taking delivery of his newly acquired Bombardier Global 6500, Ibrahim Mahama revealed that his previous aircraft would be repurposed for humanitarian use.
: “My old plane is now an air ambulance. Emergency air ambulance for every Ghanaian, not for me alone,” he stated.
He emphasised that the converted jet would support nationwide emergency medical evacuations, making critical air transport accessible to all Ghanaians in life-threatening situations, particularly those in remote areas needing swift transfer to specialised facilities.
Davis Opoku, reflecting on this development, called it a powerful example of leadership and patriotism expressed through “quiet generosity and service to others.”
“Today, seeing him dedicate his old jet to be converted into a lifesaving air ambulance for nationwide emergency response is both inspiring and commendable,” he added.
The MP urged well-wishes and prayers for Mahama and the initiative.
”If he has made this commitment to support emergency medical care in Ghana, then it is only right that we wish him well and pray for God’s continued blessings upon him and this noble initiative,” the Mpraeso MP wrote.
He concluded by noting that “Ghana needs more acts of compassion and national service like this.”
