A petty thief has been severely beaten by an angry mob after he was caught stealing a mobile phone in an incident that has since gone viral on social media.
According to reports, the suspect stole an iPhone through a window and attempted to flee the scene unnoticed.
However, his plan was quickly foiled when the phone’s owner raised an alarm by alerting co-tenants in the compound.
The co-tenants gave him a hot chase, forcing the thief to run for cover. In an attempt to evade capture, he hid inside an uncompleted building nearby.
Unknown to him, construction workers were present at the site and quickly spotted him.
The workers apprehended the thief and handed him over to the pursuing group. The situation quickly escalated as the crowd allegedly resorted to mob justice.
Armed with stones, sticks, and cutlasses, the group descended on the thief & subjected him to severe beatings.
