Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Telecel Ghana and a leading figure in Africa’s telecom and technology sector.
She is the first Ghanaian woman to lead Telecel Ghana and over more than two decades, she has driven innovation, digital inclusion and business transformation across the industry.
This month, she was conferred an Honorary Doctor of Science degree by Accra Metropolitan University for her contributions to technology, gender empowerment and national development.
Her leadership has turned Telecel Ghana into a top-performing telecom operator and a model for purpose-driven transformation.
Mrs. Obo-Nai played a key role in the 2023 transition of Vodafone Ghana to Telecel Ghana, managing operations, systems integration and staff alignment to maintain stability and continuity. She introduced an AI-first strategy to improve fraud detection, network performance and customer service.
Under her leadership, Telecel Ghana topped the 2024 National Customer Service Index with a 75% approval rating. She expanded physical presence from 104 to over 420 retail and community shops and launched TeRi, an AI-driven virtual assistant with 80% first-contact issue resolution.
She also improved the Telecel Play app to provide easier access to content and self-service tools.
She oversaw the nationwide rollout of 4G+ technology and introduced eSIM services, enhancing digital connectivity and device flexibility. She also launched the V-Tracker Road Safety Project, equipping intercity buses with IoT-enabled monitoring systems to strengthen passenger safety.
Mrs. Obo-Nai collaborated with the Electricity Company of Ghana to pilot smart metering solutions, enabling remote energy monitoring and digital billing.
She has also expanded the Telecel Female Engineering Student Sponsorship Programme (FESSP) to support more than 90 female students, providing financial aid, mentorship and internship opportunities to help them build successful careers in engineering and technology.
Alongside, she hosted National Girls-in-ICT Open Days, giving hundreds of young girls firsthand exposure to science, technology and digital career pathways.
In addition, she partnered with leading universities, including the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and the University of Ghana to improve digital access for students.
Through these collaborations, over 300 laptops were donated under the ‘Support One Needy Student with One Laptop’ initiative, helping bridge the digital divide and empower students with the tools needed for learning and innovation.
Her social impact extends to environmental and community initiatives. She has planted over 33,000 trees, advanced solarisation of network sites and introduced SuperCare, the first inclusive telecom service in Ghana.
Through the Telecel Foundation, she has supported more than 20,000 students in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) programs and delivered health services to over 50,000 people.
Her leadership has been recognized with numerous awards, including Telecom CEO of the Year 2025, Female CEO of the Year, CIMG Woman of the Year 2023 and inclusion among Africa’s Top 100 Women CEOs.
Under her guidance, Telecel Ghana has won more than 30 local and international awards for customer experience, inclusion and employer excellence.
Ing. Patricia Obo-Nai has redefined what it means to lead a telecom company in Ghana. Her work demonstrates how strategic leadership, technology and people-focused initiatives can drive business success, social impact and national development.
