Samnez Adaptive Sports Foundation on Saturday donated an E-bike wheelchair to Team Ghana’s para basketball coach, Elvis Alipui, at the Adabraka Rehabilitation Centre to enhance his mobility and support his coaching duties.

The presentation was made by German coach Jan Haller, who was moved by the condition of Coach Alipui and members of the team during a recent encounter. Haller said he felt compelled to support his colleague and contribute to improving conditions for the para basketball team.

The E-bike wheelchair is expected to reduce the physical strain on Coach Alipui, facilitate easier movement and enable him to effectively guide his players as they strive to win laurels for Ghana.

Speaking shortly after receiving the wheelchair, Coach Alipui expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as timely and motivating. He noted that the support would boost his confidence and enhance his ability to work closely with the team.

The event also featured exhibition matches and a shootout contest, after which members of the para basketball team shared their experiences and challenges with the media.

Samnez Adaptive Sports Foundation aims to create a regional hub that connects athletes, particularly persons with disabilities, with opportunities to compete, learn and improve their overall wellbeing.
