KV Mechelen handed Zulte Waregem a painful 2-1 defeat in their round-27 Belgian Pro League clash, despite a solid start from the visitors who were undone by a heartbreaking late goal.

Joseph Opoku grabbed the spotlight for Zulte Waregem, providing a neat assist for Danish forward Jeppe Erenbjerg to score their only goal of the afternoon.

The Ghanaian winger’s assist was his fourth of the season, taking his tally to nine direct goal involvements, second only to Erenbjerg, who has ten for the club.

Zulte Waregem remain 12th on the league table with 29 points, as their frustrating three-game losing streak continues.

They will now shift focus to their next home fixture against Standard Liège, where they hope to finally return to winning ways.
