Division One League side FC Ashantigold 04 have bolstered their technical team with the appointment of experienced Ghanaian coach Abdul Karim Zito as the push for Ghana Premier League promotion intensifies.
Zito joins the Zone 2 leaders shortly after parting ways with Asante Kotoko, where he endured a mixed spell despite adding to his impressive domestic résumé. Widely regarded as one of the country’s most disciplined and tactically astute trainers, his arrival is expected to inject fresh momentum into the Miners’ campaign.
Confirming the development, the club welcomed Zito’s experience, discipline and winning mentality, describing his addition as a boost to both the bench and the squad’s belief.
During his time with Kotoko, Zito guided the Porcupine Warriors to several trophies, including the FA Cup, President’s Cup and Toyota Cup. He previously led Dreams FC on a historic run to the semi-finals of the CAF Confederation Cup, where they were eliminated by Egyptian giants Zamalek SC.
Ashantigold currently top Zone 2 with 40 points from 20 matches, and the club will be banking on Zito’s pedigree to sustain their momentum and secure a return to the topflight.
