Former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta has taken legal action against two police officers, accusing them of unlawfully searching his Labone residence in Accra.
He has filed a lawsuit against DSP Bismarck Boakye Ansah and Chief Inspector Mensah, also known as Sir Mensah, arguing that their actions constituted trespassing and a violation of his right to privacy.
The writ, issued by the High Court, orders the defendants to appear before the court within eight days or face a default judgment.
The suit follows a search that took place on February 11, 2025, at Ofori-Atta’s residence while he was reportedly out of the country receiving medical treatment.
The former minister is seeking damages for trespass, aggravated damages for breach of privacy, a perpetual injunction preventing further unauthorised entry, and legal costs.
Ken Ofori-Atta served as Ghana’s Finance Minister from 2017 to 2023, overseeing key financial policies and economic programs.
