KGL U17 Colts: Upper East and Greater Accra in make-or-break tie; Western battle Eastern on Match Day 8

Upper East Region square off with Greater Accra Region in a titanic Group B match with all to play for in the KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, on Friday August 2, 2024.

Upper East, which has five players from the GFA Elite Academy in their squad, will be aiming to consolidate their lead at the top of the table ahead of their final group match against Greater Accra. The match kicks off at 10am local time.

There is  a lot to play for as both teams eye qualification to the knockout stage.

Upper East sit at the top of the table with six points, having played good football at the talent identification Championship so far, at the Ghanaman Soccer centre of Excellence at Prampram.

This is set to be a  massive game for both sides, but a win for Upper East will ensure their passage to the semi-finals while Greater Accra will exit the Championship if they fail to win.

It’s all to play for in the second Group B match when second-placed Western Region face off with Eastern Region in a match of epic proportions.

The Western show boys will be aiming for a win against a talented Eastern Region side at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence.

Match kicks off 14:00 GMT(2pm local time).

The ongoing talent identification Championship, funded by KGL Foundation, has lived up to the promise of delivering top quality performances from the participating regions.

The matches of the Championships are being telecast live to various platforms including the GFA Official Facebook page and Max TV.

The KGL Foundation Inter-Regional U17 Colts Championship, launched in 2021, has been an avenue for talent discovery for clubs, particularly Premier and Division One League clubs, with several players being beneficiaries of the esteemed competition.

The ten Regional Football Associations have selected the best U17 players from their Colts competitions to represent their regions in the Championship which is aimed at identifying, training and developing young talents for the national youth teams.
