Asante Kotoko coach Prosper Ogum has heralded new signing Kwame Opoku ahead of the Porcupine Warriors’ mouthwatering clash against fierce rivals Accra Hearts of Oak on Sunday.

Kwame Opoku signed a two-and-a-half-year deal with the club on Wednesday after enjoying a remarkable first stint with the Kumasi-based club in the 2020/21 season.

“He’s a fine striker, fine player. I like his level of professionalism. He’s been talking to me about the way we train here, how happy he is, the way we train is up to standard and he is happy he is back to the club to also contribute his quota,” Ogum said.

Opoku was instrumental for the club in his first stint, scoring six times and providing three assists in 16 appearances.

His instinctive ability in front of goal was echoed by Ogum.

“We know he has the eye for goal and that’s the reason why we are bringing him on board to come and score. Either he is scoring or he is assisting other teammates to also score. So we only have to support him emotionally, we have to support him psychologically.”

“Let him believe that he is a good quality player that is why we brought him on board. We need to give him all the necessary physical and psycho-social support that we need to give to him to be able to live up to expectations. So he is a good player and as a coach, I’m happy he is back to the club,” he added.

Kotoko have one win in their last five Ghana Premier League games and will be hoping to topple Hearts of Oak.
