Kumasi Asante Kotoko have made a huge step towards the next round of qualifiers in the CAF Champions League.
The Porcupine Warriors won away from home in the first leg of their CAF Champions League eliminators against RC de Kadiogo FC. Benin’s August 4the Stadium was the Centre of attraction fir the two teams.
Kadiogo had to play away from their native Burkina Faso due to lack of CAF standardized stadium to host international matches. CAF rescheduled the game to Monday, September 19 as Kadiogo failed to get a stadium to host the game.
Kotoko won the game by a lone goal. The goal was scored by Isaac Oppong in the second half. Oppong scored on the 89th minute to gift Kotoko the all-important away goal.
The first half ended goalless after both sides failed to convert their numerous chances. Kadiogo could not get the home fans to their advantage as they were playing away from their own fans.
This is the first official game for Kotoko’s new coach Seydou Zerbo who took over from Dr. Prosper Ogum Narteh.
Kotoko will face Kadiogo in the second leg at the Baba Yara Stadium a fortnight.
