The La Shikiitele, Nii Adjei Koofeh IV has called on the Chiefs and people of La to continue to live in peace and unity towards the annual celebration of the Homowo festival saying line up of activities towards the celebration have gone on successfully with the upcoming festivity.
He hinted that there is no Paramount Chief currently in La after the demise of the late Chief and was quick to explain that matters and issues of such nature does not prevent the people of La from the celebrations.
Nii Adjei Koofeh IV also the Head of Nmati Abonase quarters made the call in an interview with the media during the celebration of Alumi Dzomor at Kowe Blohum a suburb of La as part of the activities to mark the La Homowo festival which is grand and the finest among other similar ones within the Ga state.
He used the occasion to address and explain to some members of the
community who are of the view that the Homowo festival must not be celebrated with the reasons being that a Paramount Chief have not yet been installed.
According to him, he has no issue in that regard but the gods and some elders of the Traditional Council were consulted and approval was given as such, adding that, “this is not the first time the people of La are celebrating Homowo without a Paramount Chief”.
He therefore made references years back in the chieftaincy history of La, where there was no paramountcy but the Homowo festivity has been successful and however assured that fervent preparations have been made to kick start the occasion with no challenge and again call on all the rank and file of the people of La to support and rally behind the Chiefs for another grand Homowo celebration.
Turning the spotlight on boundaries that La township shares with other communities, he disclosed that Nyaniba estates, 37 military hospital, Ako Adjei and its environs among others are under the jurisdiction of La stool.
He thus advised adjourning communities of La not to hesitate to engage the stool over issues relating to boundaries and demarcations in a manner that will be resolved amicably.
