The Chief Executive Officer  (CEO) of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Maame Efua Houadjeto, has assured that the late highlife icon Daddy Lumba and other music legends will be duly honoured at the upcoming Ghana Tourism Awards.

Speaking to journalists after visiting the residence of Daddy Lumba to commiserate with the family and sign the book of condolence, on Wednesday July 30, she said the recognition will be done under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture.

“Under the umbrella of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, we’ll do something significant for Daddy Lumba,” she stated.

“It’s not just him, a whole lot of legends will be recognised at the Ghana Tourism Awards. The NDC administration has never turned its back on our legends. We’ll do our best to give them the honour and quality of life they deserve.”

Her remarks reflect growing calls for Ghanaian cultural and musical icons to be acknowledged and celebrated not just in death but while they are still alive.

Daddy Lumba, whose music has influenced generations and left an indelible mark on Ghana’s highlife scene, continues to receive heartfelt tributes as the nation mourns his passing.
