Following the death of singer Mohbad (real name Ilerioluwa Aloba) on September 12, 2023, a new development has emerged in the ongoing investigation.
Mohbad’s wife, Wunmi, has filed a petition against Ibrahim Owodunni, also known as Primeboy.
Primeboy, along with Ayobami Fisayo (Spending), had been visiting the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) weekly as part of the investigation into Mohbad’s death.
However, on Tuesday, during a scheduled visit, Primeboy was detained while Spending was released.
Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin clarified that Primeboy was questioned regarding defamation of character and other allegations in Wunmi’s petition. He added that Primeboy was initially released but later held due to the new complaint.
There are conflicting reports about Primeboy’s current status. While the police claim he was released, Mohbad’s family’s source says he remains detained with his lawyer seeking bail.
This development comes after Mohbad’s father, Joseph Aloba, requested to call more witnesses, including Primeboy, Spending, and Boluwatife Adeyemo (Darosha), in January 2024.
These individuals were allegedly with Mohbad at the time of his death. Mohbad’s death at 27 sparked controversy due to the unclear circumstances.
An ongoing investigation includes the exhumation of his body for an autopsy in September 2023. As of December 2023, the police have not yet received the autopsy report
