US rapper Lil Nas X has been granted a mental health diversion program instead of jail time over charges of assaulting police officers.
A judge approved the decision on Monday, meaning the felony charges against the artist, whose real name is Montero Hill, could be dismissed if he successfully completes the program and follows the law over the next two years.
Hill had pleaded not guilty to three felony counts of battery causing injury to a police officer and one count of resisting arrest. The charges stem from an incident in August 2025 in Studio City, where authorities said he was walking in the middle of Ventura Boulevard early in the morning. Police alleged that Hill charged at officers when they approached him, leading to his arrest and subsequent hospital evaluation.
