Ghanaian media personality and television producer Lily Mohammed has issued a public apology to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following her earlier comments on the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to American YouTuber IShowSpeed.

Speaking on GH Today on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, Lily acknowledged that some of the remarks she made during a previous discussion on the matter were inappropriate and went beyond acceptable commentary.

“So this morning on GH Today, I shared an opinion on a decision by the Ghanaian government to issue U.S. YouTuber IShowSpeed with a Ghanaian passport.

“I concede that some of my comments were overboard and unsavoury, and I sincerely apologise to the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, as well as to viewers who were offended,” she stated.

Lily’s earlier comments, made on GHOne TV, had criticised the government’s decision, questioning the justification for granting the YouTuber a Ghanaian passport and raising concerns about the challenges ordinary Ghanaians face in acquiring similar documentation.

In her apology, Lily clarified that while she remains entitled to express opinions on national issues, she recognises the need to do so respectfully and within appropriate bounds.
