Former President John Dramani Mahama expressed confidence in a National Democratic Congress (NDC) victory in the 2024 elections while subtly criticizing Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for their current social commentary and activism approach.

During a recent tour of the Greater Accra Region, Mahama conveyed his belief that the NDC would secure a win.

He suggested that a change in administration would lead to a resurgence of critical voices that he feels have been stifled under the current government.

Mahama remarked that the current political climate is characterized by a lack of critical discourse, with many voices opting to praise the government rather than address its shortcomings.

“I know NDC will win the 2024 elections,” Mahama stated. “However, when we win, people who have toothaches and cannot speak against the ills of the current government will start to get their voices back.

Hypocrisy is what is pulling this nation back. If we see the truth, if it is black, it is black; if it is white, it is white. It doesn’t matter who is in office. We must be truthful at all times.”

Mahama’s comments reflect his broader critique of the current political and social environment, suggesting that a shift in governance will bring renewed honesty and accountability in public discourse.
