President John Dramani Mahama has removed the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo-Dampare, from his position as part of ongoing discussions about security sector reforms under his administration.
He has appointed COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno as the new IGP, with the swearing-in ceremony scheduled for Friday, March 14.
While no official reason has been given for Dr. Akuffo-Dampare’s dismissal, sources suggest the move is part of a broader restructuring effort within the Ghana Police Service.
