The launch of the maiden edition of the U-15 Girls Inter-Regional Challenge Cup will take place at the Conference Room of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) on Friday June 14, 2024.
GFA Executive Committee member, Eugene Nobel Noel, who doubles as the Chairman of the Committee tasked with the organisation of the Cup match, chaired a meeting with members of the Committee on Tuesday April 16, 2024 at the GFA Secretariat, to activate planning and fine-tuning ahead of the inaugural tournament.
As part of the modalities for the tournament, the ten (10) regions will be divided into three zones and play a round-robin format to ultimately determine the last four teams that will make the semi-final stage. Winners of the semifinals would proceed to the finals.
Individual category awards and further details regarding the tournament, including balloting, will be unveiled at the launch on June 14, 2024.
The inaugural U-15 Challenge Cup forms part of the GFA’s Women’s Football Strategy implementation plan (2023-26), under the key Development pillar of talent identification.
This competition is strategically designed to serve as a talent identification platform, enabling national team coaches to scout promising young players for further grooming within the national academies and setup.
The introduction of the U15 Girls Inter-Regional Challenge Cup underscores the Football Association’s commitment to gender inclusivity and the development of Women’s Football at all levels.
The U15 Girls Inter-Regional Challenge Cup is the first of its kind and brings into sharp focus the overall Women’s Football Strategy which represents a pioneering effort at elevating the profile of girls’ football in Ghana.
The Ghana Football Association aims to bolster grassroots football and provide a structured pathway for emerging talents underpinned by the implementation of the Women’s Football Strategy.
The overarching goal is to transform Women’s Football in Ghana into a formidable force, thereby enhancing the competitiveness of the national teams across all age categories.
The U15 Girls are expected to unlock their potentials and systematically ease into the broader implementation strategy of Women’s football in Ghana.

The maiden edition of the U-15 Regional Girls tournament will take place at the Technical Training Centre of the Ghana Football Association in Prampram – the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence, from June 22-30, 2024.
