Ghanaian Highlife star Akwaboah Jnr revealed that some female fans expressed disappointment and stopped following him after he got married last year, but he believes his music will win them back.
In an interview with Adom TV sighted by Ghana Weekend on Thursday October 9, Akwaboah Jnr, whose full name is Gladstorm Kwabena Akwaboah Jnr, shared that several female fans voiced their shock and disappointment on social media after his wedding.
“Some came to my DM on Facebook and Instagram to express their disappointment and shock that I’m married. In fact, the day I got married, OMG, the comments!” he said, laughing.
He explained that such reactions are common, comparing the situation to church members leaving when a pastor gets married.
“There’s a difference between talent and character. When you use your talent, it attracts a lot of people, but your character sets things apart,” he noted.
Despite losing some admirers, Akwaboah remains confident that his music will bring them back. “Some have been very supportive, and I believe those who left will surely come back because they love my songs,” he added.
