Sonnie Badu has advised individuals preparing for marriage to prioritise purpose and vision when choosing a life partner.
In a video shared on Instagram on February 15, 2026, the US-based Ghanaian gospel preacher and singer urged women, in particular, to seek partners with clear direction and goals before settling down.
According to him, marrying a man without vision could slow progress in a woman’s life, stressing that couples should ensure alignment before committing. He noted that during a recent marriage counselling session, he asked a groom whether he had a purpose and vision, adding, “If you don’t have a purpose and a vision, don’t marry,” explaining that a wife often ends up living her dreams within her husband’s purpose.
Sonnie Badu further stated that women whose ambitions do not align with their partner’s direction should reconsider such relationships, insisting that emotional attachment alone is not enough. While maintaining that leadership in marriage, in his view, rests with the man, he added that a woman can still play a crucial role as the driving force behind her partner’s vision and success.
