Medeama spokesperson Patrick Akoto says the club will bolster their squad as they prepare to make a significant impact in the CAF Champions League campaign next season.
The Mauve and Yellow will make their debut in the continent’s flagship club competition after they were crowned Ghana Premier League champions for the first time.
This will mark Medeama’s return to African football since their commendable performance in the 2016 CAF Confederation Cup, where they reached the group stage.
With the goal of a strong performance in mind, Akoto has confirmed that Medeama will enhance their squad. “Clearly, there is more room for improvement, and we intend to beef up the squad. We are looking at making strategic signings to aid our campaign,” Akoto said.
He further elaborated, “We have to assess each department and identify areas where we need to strengthen. We want to build a formidable attacking threat and solidify the defence as well. We have already initiated the process of acquiring some of our targeted players, and our fans will be duly informed of the progress made.”
Recognising the difficult nature of the African terrain, Akoto emphasised that Medeama is leaving no stone unturned in their pursuit of success.
Medeama became only the 12th club to win the Ghanaian top flight after defeating Tamale City in their final home game.
