Dutch and Corinthians forward Memphis Depay has taken to social media to express his excitement after featuring and scoring in a small-sided game in Nima, a town in Ghana’s capital, Accra.

Nima is a small town in Ghana and home to many football stars, including Black Stars talisman Mohammed Kudus.

Depay touched down in Ghana last week as part of his off-season holiday trip after the Brazilian league concluded earlier in December.

On Friday, Depay was spotted at Bukom with long-time friend and one of the Independent presidential candidates during the 2024 election, Nana Kwame Bediako, Cheddar, as they watched amateur boxers battle it out.

The former Manchester United attacker continued his relaxation period in Ghana on Tuesday as fans throng Nima to watch the Corinthians man feature in a small-sided game at a local park.

Depay took to X, formerly Twitter, to express his excitement after the occasion.

“Scored my first goal in Nima yesterday, sending my love to the community there. It was great sharing a moment with y’all! #Ghana,” he wrote.

Memphis Depay, who is of Ghanaian descent, featured prominently for Corinthians in the just-ended Brazilian season, providing eight goal contributions after joining as a free agent in September.

The 30-year-old scored seven times and assisted once in 11 games and will be hoping to continue on the same tangent next season.
