The Office of the Minority Leader in Ghana’s Parliament has strongly refuted social media posts circulating alleged quotes from the Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee Report, describing them as “entirely false and malicious.”

The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, in a statement issued from his office on the 11th Floor, West Wing of Parliament House, Accra, clarified that he “did not appear before the Committee at any point during its work, neither did I submit a written statement and, as such, could not have made any submissions or statements to be captured in the said report.”

He added, “Any claims to the contrary are deliberate fabrications, clearly aimed at maligning my reputation.”

The controversy stems from viral posts attributed to Issah Ourodjabor Dikeni Ibrahim, which claim to quote directly from the yet-to-be-published Prof. Oquaye Committee Report of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

The Minority Leader emphasized that these posts, including supposed page numbers and insider commentary, are “complete fabrications.”

He further noted that the NPP’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, has already clarified that “the NPP has not released or disclosed any portion of the Prof. Oquaye Committee Report to any person, group, or organ within or outside the Party.

The Committee submitted a single copy of its report to the National Council through the National Chairman and General Secretary, and that report is currently being studied.”

“These tactics will not distract us from the critical task of renewing and strengthening our Party ahead of the 2028 general elections,” the Minority Leader said, urging the public and party faithful to “treat these baseless posts with the contempt they deserve.”

The Prof. Mike Oquaye Committee was established by the NPP in January 2025 to review the party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections and recommend reforms for future success. The committee’s findings remain confidential as the party leadership continues its internal review.
