MobileMoney LTD (MML), a subsidiary of MTN Ghana, has honoured about 500 agents and merchants across the country for their outstanding contribution to the growth of the fintech industry and the company’s efforts to advance Ghana’s digital agenda.
Dubbed the 2025 MoMo Agents & Merchants Awards, the event was held across several regions nationwide, bringing together 149 mobile money agents and 300 merchants to reflect on achievements and celebrate excellence within the fintech ecosystem.
Under the awards scheme, cash prizes ranged from a minimum of GH¢2,000, with the coveted Overall National Agent Winner receiving GH¢50,000, while the National Merchant Winner took home GH¢30,000.
Speaking about the awards night, the Chief Executive Officer of MobileMoney LTD, Shaibu Haruna, highlighted the critical role mobile money agents and merchants play in driving financial inclusion and strengthening Ghana’s fintech industry.
He noted that mobile money agents are more than service providers, describing them as community leaders, trusted custodians of customer funds, and business leaders who deliver essential financial services that enable individuals, businesses, and communities to thrive.
“You are not just doing a transactional job; you are enabling lives and livelihoods. You are community leaders, trusted with people’s hard-earned money, and the information you share shapes decisions and confidence in our ecosystem,” he stated.
Mr Haruna also assured customers and the general public that Ghana’s leading fintech company will continue to prioritise security and digital transformation in 2026.
The awards night served as a platform to recognise excellence, reward dedication, and reaffirm the vital role agents and merchants play in deepening digital financial services across the country.
