Mohammed Salisu calls for support ahead of Angola clash

Black Stars defender Mohammed Salisu has called on all Ghanaians, particularly those in Kumasi, to throw their support behind the team.

Black Stars are looking to recover from their poor showing at the World Cup in Qatar last year and make a strong bid for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations.

In Chris Hughton’s first game as manager, Ghana will host Angola at the Baba Yara Stadium on Thursday, before playing the return leg in Luanda on March 27.

The winner of the two matches will earn a spot in the 34th edition of the Africa Cup of Nations, which will take place in Ivory Coast next year.

Salisu, who plays for Southampton and has played for Ghana only six times, will be making his first appearance for the national team on home soil. He has urged all Ghanaians to come together and support the team, as they look to qualify for the tournament and make their mark on the international stage.

“Hello Kumasi, this is Mohammed Salisu from Black Stars. I’m coming home. Meet me at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday, March 23.”

“This will be my first time playing before you so come and support us to victory,” he told Ghana FA media.

Following a 3-0 win and a 1-1 draw against Madagascar and Central African Republic in the first two games, the Black Stars are tied on points with their Angolan counterparts.
